I study the dynamics in conflict-affected societies. I want to understand which national and international actors shape political conflict, why they choose violent or nonviolent strategies, and what effects this has on countries and people. My goal is to improve our understanding of political conflicts between and within countries.
My research has been published in leading outlets such as the European Journal of International Relations, Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Journal of Peace Research, Political Studies, and Conflict Management and Peace Science, among others. I am also a Guest Professor at the University of Konstanz with the DFG project The Dynamics of Mass Protests. I hold a PhD from the University of Essex and I have previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Governance at Leuphana University and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA), and as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Mannheim. |
